14 shots at Vegas hookah parlor; 1 dead and 2 seriously injured – Press Enterprise

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Fourteen people were shot dead at a hookah parlor before sunrise on Saturday morning, and police said one man died and two of those struck by the gunfire suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting happened around 3:15 a.m. and preliminary information indicated there was a party where two people got into an altercation and exchanged shots, hitting several people, Police Captain Dori Koren said.

Koren told reporters no arrests had been made and no descriptions of suspects were immediately available, but authorities did not believe there was any danger to the public.

Police went to the hookah bar, identified by the Las Vegas Review-Journal as Manny’s Glow Ultra Lounge & Restaurant, after receiving multiple 911 calls, Koren said.

Officers secured the scene and provided assistance, including applying tourniquets and performing CPR, Koren said.

Investigators were trying to determine the type of weapon or weapons used in the shooting.

“It’s a pretty big scene, so take some time to go through the whole scene,” he said. “We’re not really sure what type of gun was used or exactly if there were two shooters. We believe there was an exchange of fire, but we are still reviewing all the information.”

The medical care given to the victims by the officers who initially responded “definitely has significance in this case,” Koren said.
