More than a dozen people have been displaced after a fire at an apartment complex in Redlands caused an estimated $1 million in damage, authorities said Monday, February 28.

Firefighters responded to the fire just after 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at a two-story apartment building on the 500 block of La Verne Street, the Redlands Fire Department said in a news release. A fire in a second-floor corner apartment soon spread to an attic and two other units, authorities said.

All affected residents were safely evacuated and there were no injuries, authorities said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, the press release said.

The 15 residents who were displaced due to fire, smoke and water damage were all assisted by the American Red Cross, firefighters said.

Firefighters from Loma Linda, San Manuel, Colton and the San Bernardino County Fire Department also helped fight the blaze, authorities said.
