Chino Hills man pleads no contest in Diamond Bar DUI crash that killed 1-year-old girl and her father – Press Enterprise

POMONA — A San Bernardino County man Monday pleaded guilty to charges in a DUI accident that killed a 1-year-old girl and her father on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Diamond Bar in 2017.

Hans T. Guloy, also known as Hans Timothy Cruz Guloy, is due back from the Los Angeles County Attorney’s Office for his conviction on April 19 in a Pomona courtroom, according to Ricardo Santiago.

It was not immediately clear what punishment Guloy could face or if he is currently in custody.

The case against Guloy was filed on the one-year anniversary of the November 26, 2017 accident near Diamond Bar Boulevard on Freeway 60 that fatally injured 29-year-old Abraham Franco of Pomona and his daughter, Abby, and seriously injured the mother of the girl.

The 29-year-old Chino Hills man was charged with two counts of aggravated manslaughter while intoxicated and one count of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, which caused injury, and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent, which caused injury , hit-and-driving the wheel, resulting in death or serious injury to another person and perjury by statement, according to the district attorney’s office.

The charges also included allegations that Guloy fled the scene and caused serious bodily harm and/or death to more than one victim — allegations Guloy admitted in connection with his pleading, Santiago said.

Guloy was driving under the influence of alcohol when he crashed into the vehicle carrying the couple and their three children.

The victim’s vehicle crashed into the center divider and was then hit by another vehicle.

Guloy fled the scene and later told police his vehicle was stolen, prosecutors said.
