Galaxy falls in Seattle for first loss of season – Press Enterprise

SEATTLE — After two shutout wins, the Galaxy defense couldn’t keep up at Lumen Field.

Xavier Arreaga headed the winning goal in the 72nd minute, sending the Seattle Sounders 3-2 past the Galaxy on Saturday.

Alex Roldan assisted Arreaga’s gamewinner to help the Sounders (1-2-0) earn their first three points of the season.

Javier Hernandez scored in the 6th minute to put Galaxy ahead (2-1-0). Jordan Morris even pulled Seattle back with a goal 11 minutes later.

The Sounders went into the break 2-1 when Fredy Montero scored in added time. Julian Araujo fouled in the penalty area and Montero scored from the spot with a free kick.

Douglas Costa deflected a free-kick into the net from Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei three minutes into the second half to tie the score to 2.

Efrain Alvarez’s attempt to score LA even hit the bar with ten minutes remaining.

The Galaxy overtook Seattle 14-8, but the Sounders had a 4-3 lead on shots.
